Case Studies in Appraising Green Residential Buildings
The appraisal of the high-performance (green) residential property offers a challenge to appraisers because this type of construction is new to many markets. Current valuation techniques are capable of handling sustainability issues, but appraisers must understand the new building science and identify methods that will help them apply current methods. This course builds on the knowledge base from Introduction To Green Buildings: Principles & Concepts. Case studies will give appraisers the chance to practice their skills in real-world situations.
Develop ways to assess potential contributory value of green or energy-efficient items. Identify GRM analysis as a tool for supporting adjustments for green buildings. Identify the use of paired data analysis to support adjustments for green buildings. Identify the issues requiring careful verification of comparables for green buildings. Develop the three approaches to value in the context of green buildings.
