Course Brief
The ability to read a person’s mind is usually left firmly within the realms of science-fiction, but a new trial in Sweden is aiming to do exactly that in order to identify willingness to pay for green infrastructure.
Conducted by Dr Agnes Zajelska Jonsson from KTH Stockholm and Professor Sara Wilkinson from the University of Technology Sydney, the trial uses Virtual Reality (VR) software to gather data on perceptions and reactions to various elements, including green Infrastructure (GI) within a residential development. As participants walk through the VR environment, the researchers map where they are, and what they’re looking at.
This technology may enable sellers or policy makers to influence the amounts of GI in developments, thus making it possible to enhance the value of GI to buyers, and design and construct developments with maximum purchaser appeal.
This interactive webinar investigates the concept of “willingness to pay” for green infrastructure, and how VR technology is applied with consequences for residential development and sales. You will have the opportunity to test out the VR technology on your own device!
