Course Brief

This webinar will identify the processes and practices involved for an expert witness in the family law valuation field, focusing on the more unique aspects of this specialized niche within the industry. Attendees will explore the valuation practices generally in play from pre-engagement liaison through a letter of instruction, preparation for and completion of the valuation report, subsequent queries and clarifications, and court appearances. Members will have an opportunity to evaluate best practices for the valuer as an expert witness in family law, including how valuers can assist in the process, the challenges and pitfalls faced, and the changing landscape into the near future.

Upon completion of this webinar, Members will be able to develop a further understanding of the following areas: 

-The single expert appointment and the associated Family Law rules and protocols and the difference between a single expert and adversarial expert and the conference of experts.

- How to communicate with the parties and their lawyers. Knowing your role; not being drawn into the dispute by parties or their lawyers.
